I am an Economist at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Prior to joining the U.S. DOT, I was Associate Professor of Economics at Austin College and the Principal Investigator of the Oil and the Macroeconomy Research Program. I was also a Visiting Scholar at the University of Texas at Dallas and the Co-Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Economics Scholars Program.

I am best known for my work on energy and its effects on and linkages with the macroeconomy. Over the years, I have dedicated my career to the study of different aspects of energy markets, especially oil and other commodity markets using a variety of methodologies, techniques, and data sources. I am also well-known for my work on monetary policy, commodity price shocks, inflation, exchange rate.
